Eco-Friendly Packaging for Cosmetics

Cosmetics, including those that are organic and vegan, are something that has a planet-friendly idea, and you’re basically offering these products the attention that they need to align with the values of the company. How can you make your product packaging for eco-friendly makeup brands as eco-friendly as you came? Well, here, you can start.

The materials matter

The first thing is you want to try to go for anything paper, as this is totally recyclable, and you don't have to worry about carbon emissions. Boxes and bags made of paper are ones that come in different sizes and shapes. They are also very decomposable too. You should look at when choosing your paper packaging, to make sure it’s from a source that is indeed sustainable.

This includes post-consumer waste, and also other types of waste.  You’ll want to also look for FSC or forest stewardship council paper, as this is one that's sustainable, and extracted very well. The materials also extend to the different ingredients that you use for the makeup product bottles. If you’re using plastic bottles, you may want to move towards glass. Although they take much longer to break down, they can be recycled, and used once again, and are also reusable in different ways. Along with this, if you’re storing these within boxes, you should try to use paper, or jute bags in order to properly store these.

Tissue paper is great as a filler, as it’s totally recyclable too. If you’re going to use inserts, you should go for ones that are made of cardboard, with most companies adding inserts when they utilize plastic bottles. The inserts also add sophistication to your unboxing activities, and offer a good, clean type of display to begin with.

Other eco friendly add on

Another good thing to understand, is that the add-ons that you add to your packaging do play a part in a lot of cases. Lamination for example is something that is not good if you’re trying to be eco friendly, and it makes the prospect of recycling boxes all the harder. So make sure that the items that you use within this are totally recyclable too. There are more and more ways to be eco friendly with your add on though. For example, water and soy-based inks and laminations are becoming the way many people add the topping to their  boxes, and offer a good sort of coverage too!

Shipping that’s eco friendly.

It’s important to also look at the way that you ship. Yes, you can make your shipping much more eco friendly, and it can be something that you build sustainability with. If you partner with companies like Easy ship, which offer shipping that’s low in emissions, you’re in a good place to start. Another thing that some companies are starting to do, is use paperless receipts and tracking, so that they don’t have to waste paper, and customers can figure out where it is, and a summary of their order.

Shipping that’s done via ocean freight is also one of the more eco friendly items when compared to air and other types of freight that’s there. it also utilizes less emissions, and also puts forth less of a carbon footprint. Try to avoid shipping by cars too whenever you can, and try to look for ways to make sure that you don't have to ship tons of orders to one customer, especially if they order a lot. You can make your brand green, and you can try this for your makeup products today and get started!
